Objectives Country Island The Brothers Sable Island Mahone Bay

The short-term objectives from the Recovery Strategy (2006) are to:

  • maintain high numbers of breeding pairs at
    Country Island, NS (>40 pairs) and The Brothers, NS (>80 pairs);
  • enhance productivity at managed colonies;
  • establish at least one more managed colony;
  • remove/reduce threats to Roseate Terns and their habitat; and
  • maintain small peripheral colonies.


Recovery actions are underway on Country Island and The Brothers. Management is present on Sable Island and an attempt at establishing a third colony occurred in Mahone Bay.
